c1879 – Watchful Care

“Watchful Care” is taken from a full page book plate, from “Bible Pictures for Our Pets”, published by the Religious Tract Society, London, circa 1879. The book is divided into two segments, with illustrations for the Old Testament and illustrations for the New Testament. the caption for this particular image is from Luke xiii 34 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings,  and ye would not!”.
