“Rejoicing in a happy life” is a generous full page image ,of considerable detail, taken from a June 1902 issue of “The Animal World” (A Monthly Advocate of Humanity). It depicts an adolescent sheep cavorting among the undergrowth, with grasses, thorns and other vegetation abounding. In the background there appears to be another older sheep observing the younger one. Weir was 78 years old when this piece was executed, but was still clearly capable of intricate work. He had possibly just completed his magnum opus, “The Poultry Book” in which case he could have been riding a wave of satisfaction, that his 20 year project had finally been fulfilled. In that case, the title of this piece would appear to be equally applicable to him. Currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
