“The Obedient Rabbits” is a charming full page illustration taken from a circa 1897 edition of “A Gift for a Pet”, published by The Religious Tract Society, London. It is the only illustration by Weir in this particular publication. A one page anecdote explains how little rabbits live in a warren, and that their mother first checks whether the coast is clear, before they can come out to dine. She then stamps her feet against the wall of the warren to let them know it is safe to come out. They all run out and dine. At any sign of danger, she stamps her feet again and they all obediently run back to the safety of the warren. A simple yet charmingly accurate representation of these delightful pets and an ideal image for a child’s bedroom. Available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
