1886 – Anxious Moments

This image entitled “Anxious Moments” is taken from the 1886 edition of “Chatterbox”. It is one of several such images on this topic by Harrison Weir, and depicts a group of dogs that have been impounded and which are now up for adoption. It shows the moment when a possible new owner has come to view the dogs. The expression of hope on the dogs is almost palpable ,as they look and wish that this may be the moment when they may be taken and released to the care of a new master…..many of them having been waiting for some time….  a picture that plucks at the heartstrings.
