Description
Details: 1884 – The Day of Rest. Taken from Chatterbox: Estes & Lauriat, Boston, 1884.
$7.00 – $14.00
“The Day of Rest” is a charming rendition of two horses, relaxing in the field attended by their friends the ducks, on a Sunday, while in the distant background, the workers are heading off to church. The old post and rail type fencing shown here was commonplace back then and appears in many drawings by Harrison Weir, of countryside that includes farm animals or poultry. This image is from “Chatterbox” published by Estes & Lauriat, Boston, in 1884, but also appears earlier in the 1878 edition of the “Chatterbox Album of Animals, 1878” published by W.W.Gardner, London.
Available in both A4 and A3 sizing options.
