$7.00 – $28.00
This exquisite rendition of a Squirrel about to eat a nut, is taken from a full page image from the February 1st, 1879 cover of “The Animal World” (A Monthly Advocate of Humanity). Squirrels are one of the original wild-life animals with which Harrison was associated since childhood. In his 1883 publication “Every Day In The Country” he featured a small but delicate drawing of himself and his brother Jenner, walking arm in arm through the woodlands around Lewes, while above them a squirrel jumps and cavorts from tree to tree and one of the boys points up to it. This example is one of the most detailed he produced on the subject and is striking in its tender treatment of the animal, the composition and attention to detail. It is currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
