1879 – Fluffy and her Puppies

$7.00$14.00

“Fluffy and her Puppies” is a an almost full page book plate image, taken from the “Original Chatterbox Album of Animals” published by Estes and Lauriat, Boston, in 1879. A long story accompanies the illustration, that tells of a dog named ‘Fan’ that has a litter of ten puppies. Every time she leaves them in order to attend the cook and to eat for herself, in comes ‘Fluffy” the hen, clucking furiously and immediately settles herself down with the puppies and cover as many as she can with her body adn wings. At first ‘Fan’ as most put out by this intrusion, but in time, she realised that ‘Fluffy’ meant the pups no harm and she accepted her intrusions to protect the pups every time Fan took a breather for food or to stretch her legs. Thus a happy accommodation was made.

Prints currently available in A4 and A3 sizing options.
