“Tiff, frightening the Pigs – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “Tiff is a dog with a talent for making faces. When the pigs are crying for their dinner, Tiff’s master will say to him, ‘Tiff, go and make a face at those pigs.’ Off ‘Tiff’ trots, and makes such a horrible face at the poor creatures as instantly frightens them into silence.”
