“The Swan and the Crows – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. Instead of an anecdote accompanying the illustration, a simple educational fable with moral is attached and reads as follows: “The black crows hated the white Swan, and determined to spoil her beauty. So they spattered mud all over her beautiful plumage. Meekly the insulted Swan dived beneath the water, and rose fairer than before….. Human crows, with slander’s mud, Vainly smear your reputation: Truth with prove the cleansing flood, To undo the operation.”
Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
