1878 – A Sociable Rook

“A Sociable Rook – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows:  “This tame Rook is very fond of riding on the dog’s back. Sometimes he will ride into the breakfast-room, then settle quietly in his usual place for a time, and, watching his opportunity, suddenly pounce on a piece of butter in somebody’s plate. He likes to hear the piano played, cawing for more at the end of a tune.”

Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
