1878 – Shock, carrying the Umbrellas

“Shock, carrying the Umbrellas – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The accompanying anecdote reads: “This wise dog will often carry a bundle of umbrellas to the station, and deliver them safely to their owners, and then, with many a wag of his brown tail, he silently asks for a halfpenny to pay him for his trouble. This halfpenny he carries to the nearest shop, lays it on the counter, and gets a biscuit in return. Need we say that this dog has a kind and sensible master?”  Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
