1878 – Sheep and Ducklings

“Sheep and Ducklings – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “A Sheep, being much annoyed by flies, was seen to walk towards the water, where there were some young ducks. The ducks understood waht the sheep wanted; they left the water and quickly snapped up the tormenting flies, while a starling from a neighbouring tree alighted on the sheep’s back and helped in the work.”
