1878 – A Scholastic Jackdaw

“A Scholastic Jackdaw – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “This mischievous Jackdaw is called ‘Sambo,’ and lives at a school, where he is a great favourite with all the pupils. When he first came there, he would often amuse himself by turning a few ink-wells, upside down, and emptying their contents over the desks. Sambo was at last taught better manners, but even now forgets himself sometimes, and does very naughty things.”

Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
