“Rookey, A Tame Hooded Crow – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “The Head, throat, and wings of a Hooded Crow are black; so are his beak and feet. He has a keen bright eye. A little boy in Scotland kept the crow you see in the picture as a pet, and a very amusing and mischievous pet he was. He ate worms, one half ay a time, and kept the rest of them in a larder, which he made for himself in a hole at the foot of a gate-post.”
