1878 – The Robin

“The Robin – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “A Gentleman put a stuffed Robin just inside his window, so that the robin in the garden could see it, and he at once flew to the window and began pecking at the glass. Then the stuffed bird was placed outside on the window-sill. The robin soon returned and began to peck it. At last he knocked it off the sill; he followed it as it fell down, and went on pecking at and pulling feathers out of it, until its owner, fearing it would be quite spoiled, came out and took it away.”

Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
