1878 – Robin on the Apples

“Robin on the Apples – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, takes the form of a poem, and reads as follows:  “O Sly Robin Redbreast! O fie, robbing Robin!, I hardly can look at you there without sobbing, In winter I feed you, beguiled by your graces, And in summer you rob me, you bird of two faces!”
