1878 – “Quiz” at the Piano

“‘Quiz’ at the Piano  – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows:  “‘Quiz’ was a very amusing little dog. He would sit at the piano and sing a song to his own accompaniment. He could also ‘talk’, by uttering little yelps in rapid succession. When his mistress was ill, and had to see the doctor, ‘Quiz’ watched the interview very closely, and next time the doctor came he mounted a chair, sat up on his hind legs, and began to put out his tongue and hold forth his paw, as he had seen his mistress do.”
