“The Pelican – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. Instead of an anecdote accompanying the illustration, a simple educational paragraph has been included and reads as follows: “The Pelican is a sea-shore bird, found in many parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe. Its most curious feature is the pouch in its throat, in which it stows away its food till the hour of rest and eating comes round. The plumage of the Pelican, when fully grown, is nearly all white.”
Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
