1878 – Peace

“Peace – by Harrison Weir”, is a full page book plate image, which has been taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. On this occasion, there is no anecdote, only a short poem and on the opposite page, another illustration, entitled “War”. Both involve Rabbits and Dogs. The poem accompanying this illustration reads as follows: “Ponto lies by Lapears, Lapears lies by him, That these should chase each other, Save for play or whim, Save for sport and pastime, Would be most absurd: Cruel – nay, we might say, Wicked was the word.”

This delightful image is currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
