1878 – A Mother Water-Rat

“A Mother Water-Rat – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, simply states: “This poor Rat looks rather frightened. It has just seen a man on the bridge, and its knows the man sees it, and is fearing for the safety of its young one. But there is no need for fear. The man is only taking its portrait to show to any good little boys and girls who would like to see it, and admire its care for its little one.”

Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
