1878 – A Lark in a Cricket-Ground

“A Lark in a Cricket-Ground – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “A Cricket-Ground seems rather an unsafe place for a Lark’s nest. But these little birds are all right. The boys take good care not to hurt them. They are kind boys, and the mother-lark knows this, and comes and goes without showing the least sign of fear.”
