“The Kestrel – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “Here is a friendly Kestrel, that had attached itself to a family in a Derbyshire Rectory. It was quite young when the children procured it, and when it was able to fly they gave it its liberty; but it would not leave the locality, it was so fond of the young folk. It came every day to visit its friends, and would fly into the nursery when the window was open, and perch upon the chairs or table, and sometimes on the head of one of the children.”
Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
