“Horse opening a Door – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The accompanying anecdote reads as follows: “A gentleman, travelling through Bedfordshire stayed for a while at a small house, where a horse in the back-yard grasped with his mouth the handle of the door of the room in which he was sitting, and by a twist of his head turned the spindle and entered the room. The mistress of the house put a piece of loaf-sugar into his mouth, when he backed out, and again grasping the handle, closed the door. The woman told the gentleman that when the horse was left loose in the yard he often came inside for a piece of sugar.”
Prints now available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
