“A Fox in the Furrow – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “A Fox was seen by a farmer, while he was ploughing in a field, to run along in the furrow directly before him. While wondering at this, he heard the cry of dogs, and turning round saw a pack of hounds at a dead stand, at the other end of the field, at the very spot where Reynard had entered the furrow. The fox had taken this way of breaking the scent, and so getting safely off; and the farmer, admiring his cleverness, did not betray him.”
Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
