1878 – A Four-Footed Thief

“A Four-Footed Thief – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The brief text accompanying the illustration reads as follows: “This is a picture of a dog which has been taught bad ways by its master, who ought to have known better. He had taught his dog to steal, and such a clever thief he became that he took six hats from one shop in a single week.” A dog will faithfully do its masters’ bidding, as illustrated by this example. The picture shows us that the dog is oblivious to the ramifications of his actions….as he scampers out proudly.

Prints available in A4,A3 and A2 sizing options.
