1878 – Ferdinand

“Ferdinand – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The accompanying anecdote reads as follows: “This is a picture of Ferdinand. His feathers wre red and close-fitting, and when the sun shone on him he looked as if he were dressed in gold and crimson. He was as good as he was beautiful; he was always kind to the hens. If he found a nice fruit, or a juicy worm, he would not eat them himself, but would call loudly for his companions, and he would give them the dainty morsel with his beak. He was not at all selfish, and from him we should learn a lesson.”

Prints of “Ferdinand” now available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
