1878 – A Dog’s Instinct

“A Dog’s Instinct – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The accompanying anecdote is as follows: “This clever dog is very fond of sugar. Sometimes his master places a lump of this at the end of the mantelpiece, above his reach. When the dog finds he cannot get it by jumping, he fetches a footstool from another part of the room, gets upon it, and soon has the wished-for sugar between his teeth.”  Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
