“Dog protecting his late Master – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “This dog’s master fell down a distance of more than thirty feet and was killed. His body was afterwards placed in a boat, and a piece of canvas thrown over it. The faithful dog jumped into the boat also, placed his head across his master’s face, and remained in that position until the landing. After the burial the poor animal was very unhappy, and refused to eat. A week after he died – a martyr to love for his master.”
Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
