“A Dog Highway Robber – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows:  “Here is a picture of a dog-robber, who was taught by his master to steal. One evening two ladies were walking near King’s Cross, London, when the dog suddenly seized the bag which one of the ladies was carrying, and ran off with it. A policeman to whom the ladies complained, stated that the dog had robbed a poor woman of a bundle containing several things, and had escaped to his master who was waiting for him.”
