1878 – Dog and Duck

“Dog and Duck – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The accompanying text simply reads: “A Duck, after losing her brood, comforted herself by making a friend of a large French poodle-dog. The duck fed out of the dog’s bowl, and slept in his house, and sometimes they would play together, the dog taking the duck’s neck into his mouth, but never hurting it.”  Once again, this brief story is beautifully illustrated by Weir.

Prints available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
