“The Crane and the Trout – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. Instead of an anecdote accompanying the illustration, a simple educational fable with moral is attached and reads as follows: “A little Trout, which had been caught by a Crane, whimpered out – ‘Oh set me free! I am too small to be of any use to you. Only let me live a month, and I shall be quite as big again, and meanwhile I will show you where you may find plenty of fishes far larger than I’ ..’Not I, indeed’ replied the Crane; ‘one fish in the bill is worth six in the stream’.”
Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
