1878 – Chamois

“Chamois – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “Here is a group of Chamois standing amid crags, chasms, and precipices, in the Alps. These handsome little creatures are of the antelope kind. They dislike summer heat, and therefore they seek the snowy heights of the mountains; but in the winter the cold of such places is too much for them, and they descend into the valleys. It is then that they are captured by the hunter, by whom their habits are well known.”

Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
