“Calves – by Harrison Weir” is a full page book plate image, taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878. The short anecdote accompanying the illustration, reads as follows: “We calves are related to Count Bison, in Russia; to Citizen Buffalo, in America; and to Sahib Zebu, that elegant, deer-like animal, whom Indian folk worship. People say that we had forefathers in England in the time of Julius Caesar. There, now! don’t you think that we are members of a very large, useful and highly genteel family, and that I am a very learned calf?”
Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
