1878 – Animal Affection

“Animal Affection – by Harrison Weir” is a full page bookplate image taken from the “Chatterbox Album of Animals”, published by W.W.Gardner, circa 1878.  The accompanying anecdote to the illustration reads thus: “A Pony and a Donkey are standing by their friend’s grave. He was a small Madras Buffalo, who had lived in the same meadow with them for about three years. Now that he is gone they are very very sad. The donkey brays pitifully, while the pony hangs his head and mourns in silence, thus showing a difference in their mode of expressing sorrow.”

Prints currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
