1876 – The New Style

This small but stunning image entitled “The New Style” comes from an article in “The Animal World” (A Monthly Advocate of Humanity) published by the R.S.P.C.A in 1876. It depicts the new style of driving horses, without bearing reins and blinkers, and illustrates the advantages of the new practice opposite an illustration of “The Old Style”. The images are in fact taken from “Stories About Horses” illustrated by Harrison Weir, and edited by Thomas Bywater Smithies of The British Workman. The article in “The Animal World” is simply an in-depth book review of that new publication. The clarity in this image allows us to offer it in A4, A3 and a stunning A2 sizing option.
