$10.00 – $40.00
“Charlie” is a full page colour book plate printed by Leighton Bros, for inclusion in “The Children’s Pictorial Museum of Birds, Beasts & Fishes” published by Ward, Lock & Tyler, London, in 1866. However it began as an original drawing without colour, entitled “Suffolk Punch” executed in 1858 for “Animals from the Sketchbook of Harrison Weir”, examples of which are now extremely rare. It has been suggested that the original drawings were done as a tribute to Harrison Weirs father, John Weir, who was a capable artist and doting father, that willingly devoted many hours drawing animals for Harrison and his older brother, Jenner Weir, as children. We are delighted to make this version of the image available for others to appreciate in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
