1861 – Prize Poultry & Pigeons at the Birmingham Exhibition

Another detailed full page study of “Prize Poultry and Pigeons at the Birmingham Exhibition” as it appeared in the December 21st, 1861 edition of the “Illustrated London News”. Once again, Harrison shows both his knowledge and ability in rendering the exhibits with such precision. That in itself makes these images more valuable for their historical accuracy, as he was adamant that they should be drawn as the look and not as they should appear, to meet an imaginary standard, or to match that standard. For the artist, it was all about “the truth” and showing them as the were. Once again we have provided a copy of the full page as the image as it would not fit into our gallery frame, un-cropped.
