1861 – Old Dobbin

“Old Dobbin” is a detailed and rather sentimental illustration of an old work horse who is now retired. This illustration is taken from “Poems by Eliza Cook” published by Routledge, Warne & Routledge in 1861. Eliza Cook was an established force in poetry by this time and lived literally across the street from Weir, in Camberwell, London. His illustrations often feature in her books from this period. In the picture itself, you can see the signpost to Lewes, which is a sentimental reference to the town of Weir’s birth. This image is currently available in A4 and A3 sizing options. However, if you are interested in an A2 option, we may be able to push the boundaries to create one for you.
