1848 – Meet of Her Majesty’s Staghounds at Hillingdon

$7.00$28.00

Here we have another classic early piece by Harrison Weir in his capacity as a ‘reporter-illustrator’ with this image entitled, “Meet of Her Majesty’s Staghounds, at Hillingdon”. Earlier meets such as this, had previously been illustrated by Duncan, but now Weir was getting an opportunity to show his capabilities and his advanced exposure to and knowledge of horses is already beginning to show!  This half-page image is one of two, making up a full-page feature article about the meet, and is taken from the November 18th, 1848 edition of “The Illustrated London News”.  The second image under the same name but with the definition “Full Cry” shows the dogs in hot pursuit of a stag with riders following behind. We offer both images separately, but if any collector would like both on one page, this can be arranged.

This image of Her Majesty’s Staghounds at Hillingdon is currently available in A4, A3 and A2 sizing options.
